Knight Traps Parker in the Elevator in ‘NCIS’ Season 22 Sneak Peek

NCIS Season 22, Episode 8 Highlights Parker’s Mystery and Mental Health Journey

NCIS introduced a compelling mystery surrounding Alden Parker in Season 21 when he began seeing a mysterious girl named Lily. Initially, Parker dismissed the visions as harmless hallucinations caused by blood loss during a prior incident. However, as these visions persisted, it became clear there might be more to the story. While Season 22 has yet to delve deeply into this arc, Episode 8, “Out of Control,” brings Parker’s struggle to the forefront. CBS released a sneak peek teasing how this unresolved mystery unfolds, with Lily reappearing and Parker facing pressure to confront his past.

A Closer Look at Parker’s Struggle

The episode’s logline reveals:

“NCIS investigates a murder related to a car that begins driving on its own. Also, Parker is still seeing visions of Lily.”

The sneak peek shows an intense exchange between Parker and Jessica Knight. As Parker boards the elevator to Autopsy, Knight joins him under the guise of heading to the same destination. Their conversation quickly turns serious as Knight tries to convince Parker to seek help. She suspects his visions of Lily may be linked to post-traumatic stress, warning him about the dangers of ignoring mental health issues. However, Parker brushes off her concerns, insisting he’s fine.

Despite his resistance, Knight’s concern is warranted. As she points out, unresolved trauma can have serious consequences, especially for a law enforcement officer. Her persistence underscores the importance of addressing mental health, even when the person insists they’re in control.

Showrunner Steven D. Binder offered additional insight into Parker’s mystery, telling Entertainment Weekly: “I wouldn’t be so sure that Parker knows who [Lily] is either. We don’t always remember the scars of our youth.” This cryptic remark suggests that Lily may be tied to long-buried memories Parker has avoided confronting.

What to Expect in “Out of Control”

In addition to Parker’s storyline, “Out of Control” treats viewers to an investigation involving self-driving cars and a murder case. The episode will also feature entertaining dynamics between Nick Torres and Tim McGee as they tackle the technological mystery. Written by Scott Williams and Steven D. Binder, and directed by Diana Valentine, this episode promises a blend of suspense, character exploration, and team camaraderie.

Tune in tonight, Monday, December 9, on CBS to see how Parker’s story unfolds and learn more about Lily’s connection to his past. For those needing to catch up, past episodes of NCIS are available to stream on Paramount+.
