“Would we do that if the opportunity came forward?”: CBS is Sitting on a Goldmine If They Turn Mark Harmon’s Book into an NCIS Origin Story Movie

Mark Harmon, best known for his iconic role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS, has ventured into the world of publishing with a new book, Ghosts of Honolulu: A Japanese Spy, A Japanese American Spy Hunter, and the Untold Story of Pearl Harbor. The book, co-written with real-life NCIS Special Agent Leon Carroll Jr., delves into the fascinating history of espionage surrounding Pearl Harbor and the early days of NCIS (then known as the Office of Naval Intelligence).

When asked if he’d like to see the book adapted into a movie or series, Harmon remained humble, stating, “I don’t think like that. I just focus on doing the work at hand.” However, he acknowledged the potential for more stories to be told, teasing that if the opportunity arose, a series or movie adaptation could be a possibility.

The book not only uncovers the dramatic history of intelligence operations but also honors the dedication of people like Carroll, who spent their lives serving the intelligence community. With NCIS being such a hit, it’s easy to imagine CBS turning Ghosts of Honolulu into a captivating series or film.
