NCIS Reveals First Look At The Main Cast For Season 23 — But 2 Actors Are Missing

In exciting news, the cast and crew of NCIS are hard at work on season 23; in worrisome news, two actors are suspiciously missing from a behind-the-scenes video. The CBS military police procedural TV series has featured many cast changes over the years. Perhaps NCIS is in store for another shakeup in season 23.

The NCIS universe’s Instagram page posted a video from the cast’s first day on the set of season 23 on July 17, 2025. Katrina Law, Sean Murray, Wilmer Valderrama, Rocky Carroll, and Gary Cole were all in attendance to announce the monumental event. However, NCIS has seven cast members, not five. That begs the question — where are Brian Dietzen and Diona Reasonover?

What Brian Dietzen & Diona Reasonover’s Absence Mean For NCIS Season 23

CBS Hasn’t Announced Their Exits

The above video confirms that Katrina Law as Jessica Knight, Sean Murray as Timothy McGee, Wilmer Valderrama as Nick Torres, Rocky Carroll as Leon Vance, and Gary Cole as Alden Parker are all back for NCIS season 23. Since Brian Dietzen and Diona Reasonover are missing, though, some are worried that Dr. Jimmy Palmer and Kasie Hines are leaving the CBS series.

Amid a stagnant personal arc, NCIS season 22 just paved the way for Timothy McGee’s MCRT exit with the re-introduction of its most amusing villain.

Despite their absence in the Instagram video, Dietzen and Reasonover will likely reprise their roles as Jimmy and Kasie in the main cast of NCIS season 23. Neither the network nor anyone who works on the show has indicated that Dietzen and Reasonover are departing. So, fans should still anticipate Jimmy and Kasie’s return in season 23.

The good news is that, by all accounts, Jimmy and Kasie are expected to appear in season 23.

If they don’t come back, a lot will change. Jimmy first appeared in season 1 and has been a key figure in the series for many years now. Meanwhile, Kasie was introduced in season 15 and also plays a significant role in NCIS‘s structure. The good news is that, by all accounts, Jimmy and Kasie are expected to appear in season 23.

Our Take On NCIS’s Missing 2 Cast Members

Jimmy & Kasie Are Likely Still Coming Back For Season 23

Wilmer Valderrama as NCIS Special Agent Nicholas “Nick” Torres, Sean Murray as Special Agent Timothy McGee, and Diona Reasonover as Forensic Scientist Kasie Hines in NCIS

In spite of them missing from NCIS‘s behind-the-scenes video from the set of season 23, Dietzen and Reasonover are most likely still a part of the main cast. Maybe the two stars simply weren’t scheduled to work the day the video was filmed. As a result, Dietzen and Reasonover weren’t around to join their costars in announcing the start of production.

NCIS Season 22 Recap: What You Need to Remember

Fans shouldn’t be worried about any NCIS cast exits ahead of the season 23 premiere. Of course, the door is always open for any actor to leave the CBS show down the line. For now, though, our odds are on NCIS season 23 beginning with its main cast intact.
