Mark Harmon has become one of television’s most familiar faces, thanks to his unforgettable 18-season run as the quietly commanding Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS. But the actor’s story stretches far beyond the walls of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

Born in Burbank to football great Tom Harmon and Hollywood actress Elyse Knox, Mark seemed destined for success. He followed his father’s athletic path as UCLA’s quarterback before switching gears and stepping into his mother’s world: acting. A small role on Ozzie’s Girls launched what would become a steady and deeply respected career.

Mark’s personal life is just as compelling. In 1987, he married actress Pam Dawber, forever remembered as Mindy opposite Robin Williams on the hit comedy Mork & Mindy.
