Tony & Ziva’s NCIS Comeback Looks More Likely Than Ever After Major Paramount+ Update

The end of NCIS: Tony & Ziva may feel like a loss for fans – but it could actually open the door to something exciting: a return to the flagship NCIS.

Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) remain two of the franchise’s most beloved characters. Their Paramount+ series gave viewers a more serialized, globe-trotting story that reunited the couple as they went on the run with their daughter, Tali. By the finale, Tony and Ziva chose to try again romantically – giving fans the long-awaited happy ending they deserved.

But despite its promise, the spinoff lasted just one season. While Paramount+ hasn’t shared an official reason, reports suggest viewership declined after the premiere.

Why This Could Be Good News

Ironically, the cancellation may increase the chances of Tony and Ziva returning to the original show. With no separate series tying up their story, the characters are once again free to appear on the mothership – where their legacy was built.

Tony and Ziva were central to a golden era of NCIS, working alongside characters like Timothy McGee, Jimmy Palmer, and Director Vance. While some familiar faces are gone, many key connections remain, making a reunion both emotional and story-rich.

Weatherly already proved a return can work. He appeared in Season 21 for a tribute episode honoring David McCallum’s Ducky – a moment fans widely praised. That cameo showed how powerful revisiting classic characters can be.

The Perfect Opportunity

Now that their spinoff chapter has closed, a guest arc on NCIS could feel like a homecoming. Even a short return would allow Tony and Ziva to reconnect with McGee, Jimmy, and Vance – and remind longtime viewers why they became icons of the series.
