NCIS Brings Back a Fan-Favorite Character After Four-Year Absence

A familiar NCIS character is officially returning – with a twist. Dwayne Pride, originally portrayed by Scott Bakula on NCIS: New Orleans, will appear for the first time in four years on NCIS: Origins, but he’ll be played by a new actor.

According to TV Insider, casting is underway for a younger version of Pride, who is expected to debut later this season. Bakula starred as the beloved agent for seven seasons from 2014 to 2021.

The younger Pride is described as a former sheriff’s deputy and newly appointed probationary special agent from the NIS Panama office. He shares a complicated history with Leroy Jethro Gibbs, whose younger self is played by Austin Stowell, and the two will confront their past while working undercover.

Co-showrunners Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North said the series is excited to explore Pride’s early years and his connection to Gibbs, calling him “the legendary Special Agent Dwayne Pride.”

The actor taking on the role has not yet been announced.
