Daniela Ruah at 41: Life After NCIS: LA, Family Joys, and a New Chapter

For over a decade, Daniela Ruah was a primetime favorite as Special Agent Kensi Blye on NCIS: Los Angeles. Fans watched her character evolve from a guarded agent to a loyal partner, wife, and mother. When the series ended in May 2023 after 14 seasons, Ruah stepped into a new chapter.

A Beachside Birthday & Reflection

On her 41st birthday, Ruah shared photos of herself walking along the shore and leaping in joy, writing:

“This is happy. This is fulfilled. This is still growing. This is learning. This is making mistakes. This is still jumping for joy. This is loving. This is guiding. This is being guided. This is evolving. This is mothering. This is wifing. This is 41.”

The post drew warm wishes from fans and colleagues, many praising her positivity and resilience.

Shifting from Acting to Directing

Though she hasn’t taken on major new acting roles since NCIS: LA, Ruah has moved behind the camera. She directed episodes of NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i, building on years of experience on set. She also continues her work in Portugal, where her 2020 miniseries A Espia (The Spy) highlighted her range beyond American TV.

Family First

Ruah and husband David Paul Olsen-stuntman and brother of her co-star Eric Christian Olsen—recently celebrated 10 years of marriage. They share two children: River, 11, and Sierra, 8. In her birthday message, she highlighted “mothering” and “wifing” as central to her life now.

Lasting NCIS Bonds

Although the show has ended, Ruah remains close with her NCIS: LA family, often reuniting with castmates. Her unique bond with Eric Christian Olsen-brother-in-law both on-screen and off-remains a fan favorite story.

What’s Next?

At 41, Ruah is embracing balance between family and creativity. While her focus leans toward directing, fans haven’t ruled out her returning to the NCIS universe in some form.

Conclusion

Daniela Ruah’s journey after NCIS: LA is less about endings and more about evolution. With family, directing, and new opportunities ahead, she continues to inspire fans with the same resilience and heart that made Kensi Blye unforgettable.
