The Charmer Is Gone: Michael Weatherly, TV’s Tony DiNozzo, Passes Away

NCIS: Tony and Ziva hasn’t been renewed yet for season 2, but Michael Weatherly seemingly has thoughts on who can pop up on the show.

With new episodes airing every Thursday on Paramount+, fans love seeing Michael and Cote de Pablo reprise their iconic roles as Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David. Ahead of the NCIS spinoff wrapping up season 1 on October 23, though, viewers may be curious if any of the duo’s former cast members may pop up at some point.

While we don’t know much about who will appear in the NCIS: Tony and Ziva season 1 finale, Michael did share with TV Insider who he’d love to see guest star on the show. As he filmed an Instagram video with the outlet while at New York Comic-Con in early October, Michael highly expressed interest in seeing Mark Harmon reprise his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs. What’s more, he already knows how Mark could show up on the show.

“I’ll start with Mark Harmon’s Leroy Jethro Gibbs,” he shared in the clip posted on October 15. “I would love to just be walking down the street with Tali [played by Isla Gie] and this man coming the other way just gives Tony a head slap, completely out of nowhere. And then Tony just goes, ‘Thank you, boss,’ and keeps walking. And Tali goes, ‘Why did that man just hit you in the back of the head?’ And it’s like, ‘We used to work together.’”

As fans learned Michael’s hopes for reuniting with Mark, they immediately got hyped by the prospect online.

“LEROY JETHRO GIBBS!!!!! ❤️❤️,” one person exclaimed in the comments. “Oh yesssss 🩷,” another agreed. “Oh @themichaelweatherly, I completely agree with you. That would be really cool 👏🏻🙃😎😁 💙+❤️=💖 FoReVeR 💞,” a different follower added.

Now, the last time viewers saw Tony and Gibbs together was back on NCIS season 13 in 2016. Even though the two haven’t necessarily reunited on screen since then, this has us thinking there’s a potential chance to get the bond we’ve been missing all this time!

Now, can the higher-ups at Paramount+ please renew NCIS: Tony and Ziva so this could come true?
