CBS Confirms NCIS Season 23’s TRUE Villain (Not Carla Marino)

The NCIS season 22 finale completely reshaped the game for Alden Parker and his Major Case Response Team. With Carla Marino still on the run and Parker’s father’s murd3r unresolved, the squad is more united – and more determined – than ever to seek justice.

It’s been years since NCIS delivered a personal tragedy this intense. Earlier seasons often leaned into emotional storylines, but in recent years, the show has favored lighter, case-of-the-week plots. Season 23 is set to change that – and while Marino remains a looming threat, she’s not the only danger the team faces.

A Poster Reveals a Power Shift

CBS’ new NCIS season 23 poster subtly teases a major divide. The image features the main cast against the Washington, D.C. skyline, but fans quickly noticed something off – Director Leon Vance is visually separated from Parker and the rest of the MCRT. His placement hints at deeper tensions brewing within the team.

That visual clue lines up with reports that Vance will clash with Parker’s team this season. Despite their shared goal of finding justice for Parker’s father, the Director will reportedly stand in their way – creating internal conflict that could be more dangerous than any outside enemy.

Why Vance Is the Real Threat

While Carla Marino’s ruthlessness makes her a formidable foe, the MCRT knows what they’re up against. Vance, however, operates from within. His resistance to the team’s investigation could undermine missions, fracture trust, and put everyone at greater risk.

There’s speculation that Vance’s shift stems from deeper personal reasons, not outright betrayal – but that won’t make things easier. Ironically, the man who once lost his own wife to violence should understand Parker’s pain. Instead, his secrecy and obstruction could make him NCIS season 23’s most dangerous antagonist yet.
