NCIS Season 23 Is Setting Up The Successor To One Of Its Worst Villains From 14 Years Ago

NCIS season 23 seems like it will be bringing back nostalgia with the show’s latest villain, which might even be the worst one so far. NCIS season 22 saw Carla Marino come to center stage after the finale revealed she had killed Parker’s father, Roman, in an act of revenge. Season 23 may take this one step further.

Marino’s exact circumstances are unique, as she has had a long-standing rivalry with Parker ever since he first tried catching her during his FBI days. However, she holds surprising similarities to one of NCIS’ most terrifying villains from 14 years ago. With her recent introduction and lethal anger, NCIS season 23 can only build on this comparison.

Carla Marino Is Eerily Similar To Season 8’s Port To Port Killer

Marino holds eerie similarities to NCIS’ Jonas Cobb, who was also referred to as the Port to Port killer due to the nature of his murders in season 8. Cobb was ruthless, killing people with no remorse. He even went as far as kidnapping and torturing Ziva. From the NCIS season 22 finale, we learned Marino was ruthless, too.

The similarities do not stop there. Both characters also killed a person close to the MCRT’s leader; Cobb killed Franks to hurt Gibbs, and Marino killed Roman to hurt Parker. Their motivations differed slightly, but both Cobb and Marino wanted to hurt someone close to Gibbs and Parker, respectively, which is why they chose their victims the way they did.

While Cobb was a serial killer and Marino is a mob boss, their motivations are similar. They both want to inflict pain and come out on top. Their relentless anger only adds to their goals. They may go about it in different ways, but despite their differences, they are also very similar in their actions and motivations.

NCIS Season 23 Could Highlight These Similarities Through Parker’s Anger

Just like how Gibbs was angry at Cobb for going too far in NCIS season 8, Parker’s anger at Marino could be highlighted in NCIS season 23. The vengeance felt by the MCRT, but more specifically by Gibbs, was a major aspect of season 8. It added a level of intensity to the season that helped it stand out.

Similarly, NCIS season 23 could take the anger, grief, and vengeance that were key elements in NCIS season 8 and play with those feelings in the upcoming season. Marino and Cobb may have different power dynamics, but they both felt like they had the upper hand until they were captured. Maybe for Marino that will happen this season.
