‘NCIS’ Fans, the Show Revealed a Major Change for Season 23

NCIS fans, the show just delivered the update you’ve all been waiting for.

Season 23 is officially in production for the hit CBS drama, and fans are eager to see the NCIS team back in action on TV. Well, the network decided to drop a thrilling update about the NCIS season 23 release date — and it turns out fans can tune in sooner than they may think.

Thanks to a surprise announcement made on NCIS’ official Instagram on July 10, fans learned NCIS season 23 will premiere on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. This also marks an unexpected scheduling change for the show, with NCIS moving from its previous Monday night time slot to Tuesday nights.

“Tuesdays, we’re coming home 👏👏,” the show’s social team wrote in the caption, confirming the time slot change as well.

When fans discovered that NCIS would be moving to an all-new night for the fall 2025-2026 TV season on CBS, they were excited to see what new stories would emerge from the hit drama.

“Thank you! Tuesdays are always better than Mondays 😂,” one person cracked up in the comments. “Let’s GO!! Been waiting FOREVER,” another shouted. “Can’t wait 🔥🔥🔥,” a different follower added.

Now, it’s important to note this isn’t the first time NCIS has aired on Tuesday nights. In fact, the last time the show aired on this day of the week was when season 18 premiered on CBS back in 2020.

Now, as for why the series moved to Tuesday nights on CBS, it likely has to do with the network wanting to air three different shows in the NCIS universe. Along with the original NCIS coming back for season 23, NCIS: Origins season 2 and NCIS: Sydney season 3 are also set to premiere on October 14. Given how all three shows are on TV at the same time, it would make sense for CBS to have them all premiere on the same day for fans to watch all at once.

No matter the case, we’re just thrilled to know NCIS will be back on TV very soon.
