NCIS Fans Just Got An Exciting Update

NCIS fans will want to hear this latest update about the long-running CBS procedural, which tells gripping and action-packed stories about a group of special agents who investigate a new crime each episode.

NCIS premiered in September 2023 and introduced viewers to Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), who used to be a sniper in the Marine Corps and who now runs a team of intelligent and interesting characters. After Gibbs moved to Alaska and left in NCIS season 19, fans have been curious if he will return, whether on the prequel series or the original one. Several spinoffs have followed, including NCIS: Sydney, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, and the prequel NCIS: Origins, which stars Austin Stowell as a young Gibbs in the 1990s. NCIS: Hawaiʻi premiered in 2021 but only aired for three seasons before CBS canceled it in the spring of 2024. Fans waiting to see their favorite characters again will want to hear this update.

The NCIS Season 23 Premiere Date Has Been Announced (Along With NCIS: Origins Season 2 And NCIS: Sydney Season 3)

Deadline reported that CBS has announced its fall 2025 TV broadcast schedule and all three NCIS shows will air on Tuesday nights, beginning on Tuesday, October 14th, 2025. The original series NCIS will air on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. E.T., followed by NCIS: Origins at 9 p.m. E.T. and NCIS: Sydney at 11 p.m. E.T.

While fans are getting ready to watch NCIS season 23 this coming fall, they’re also looking forward to season 2 of the hit prequel NCIS: Origins and season 3 of NCIS: Sydney. The franchise has hit upon a successful and fun formula that involves compelling characters, thrilling action, and big twists. While the spinoffs have been popular and it’s cool to see agents working in new locations, NCIS: Origins has been particularly interesting since viewers have always hoped to learn all there is to know about Gibbs. The prequel has an impressive 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and 71% on the Popcornmeter.

Besides watching new seasons of all three NCIS series, fans will have a fourth series to dig into: NCIS: Tony & Ziva, the upcoming spinoff about beloved couple Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo). Fans continue to wonder if Mark Harmon could appear on the show, especially since his return could be a fun and nostalgic plot point. The show will premiere on Paramount+ on September 4th, 2025.
