Liam Neeson, 72, Reveals Shocking Decision About His Future in Hollywood

Liam Neeson has revealed he may soon step back from action-packed roles, admitting the physical demands are becoming too much at age 72. Known for hits like TakenThe Commuter, and The A-Team, the veteran actor still performs many of his own fight scenes-but acknowledges he’s nearing the end.

“I’m 72 – it has to stop at some stage,” he told People magazine. Though his longtime stunt double, Mark Vanselow, helps with the tougher scenes, Neeson said, “You can’t fool audiences. I don’t want Mark to be fighting my fight scenes for me.”

Neeson hinted he could retire from action films by the end of 2025 but hasn’t made a final decision: “Maybe the end of next year. I think that’s it.”

Up next, fans can see him in a reboot of The Naked Gun, playing bumbling cop Frank Drebin Jr. alongside Pamela Anderson. Of working with her, he said: “I’m madly in love with her. She’s funny.”

A star of both action and drama, Neeson has had a remarkable career spanning over four decades. His personal life was shaken in 2009 by the tragic death of his wife, Natasha Richardson, following a skiing accident. The couple shared two sons, Micheál, 29, and Daniel, 28.

Micheál, who changed his surname to Richardson in tribute to his late mother, has acted alongside his father in Cold Pursuit and Made in Italy. “We didn’t have to pretend to have a relationship,” Neeson once said. “It was just having a regular conversation with your boy.”
