Years Ago, CBS Proved Their Loyalty to Mark Harmon!

NCIS has been on the air since 2003, making it one of television’s longest-running dramas. Over the course of 18 seasons, it has also become one of the world’s highest-rated television shows.

Mark Harmon (Leroy Jethro Gibbs) has been with the show since the beginning and is a major reason for its success.

Years ago, CBS demonstrated their devotion to the NCIS star and executive producer. Did he simply repay the favor..?

The ‘NCIS’ Star is Said To Be ‘Ready To Leave.’

Harmon was rumored to be “ready to leave” NCIS after season 18 in February 2021, according to reports.

The 69-year-contract old’s expires at the end of the current season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. There’s a chance that this is the final installment of the flagship series.

According to an insider, when Harmon found out CBS would cancel NCIS if he left, he began talking about making cameos in a “handful of episodes” if they would renew the show for season 19.

But it appears that CBS was not satisfied with the prospect of their star returning for only a few episodes.

During the early years of ‘NCIS,’ the network demonstrated its devotion to Harmon.

NCIS has been one of the top three most-watched shows on television for more than a decade. It is broadcast in over 200 countries and territories and has spawned two spinoffs: NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans. However, the man who started it all hasn’t been a part of NCIS in years.

Donald Bellisario, the show’s creator and showrunner, abruptly left the show in 2007, less than five seasons into its run. Why would someone leave such a popular TV show? Harmon forced him out, according to the answer.

Harmon and Bellisario got along horribly. According to Looper, they fought for months over Bellisario’s “chaotic management style” and the resulting long hours.

Mark Harmon was supported by CBS.

When CBS stepped in, the behind-the-scenes drama between Harmon and Bellisario came to an end. Harmon and his star power were deemed far more valuable to NCIS by the network than Bellisario’s work. Because Harmon disliked Bellisario, the network fired the showrunner.

However, Bellisario was able to keep her position as an executive producer on the show. To this day, fans of NCIS will see his name in the credits whenever they watch an episode of the show. However, the drama did not end with the departure of the EP. After NCIS: Los Angeles went into production, Bellisario filed a lawsuit against CBS.

The creator of ‘NCIS’ reached an agreement with the network.

Bellisario sued CBS because his contract included a provision granting him the right to create the first NCIS spinoff. Instead of Bellisario, the network hired NCIS executive producer Shane Brennan to create NCIS: Los Angeles.

CBS and Bellisario eventually reached an undisclosed settlement. After a long career that began in 1977, he has now retired from television. Bellisario also created Magnum P.I., Quantum Leap, and JAG in addition to NCIS.

CBS has finally confirmed that Mark Harmon will return for Season 19 of his show.

Harmon has previously stated that if the writers are ever at a loss for what to do, it is time to “call it a day.” In 2019, the actor told People magazine that he’s been around long enough to understand “what this is.”

“That’s part of what I signed up for; I know when this show ends, that’s it — there won’t be anything else like it for me,” Harmon explained.

Harmon hasn’t said anything publicly about his future on the show since the most recent rumors about his possible exit surfaced.

CBS had also been silent until late last week, when they confirmed that the show and Harmon would return for season 19. Harmon has remained silent despite the news.
