‘NCIS’ Star Mark Harmon Honors David McCallum With Incredibly Powerful Statement

David McCallum: A Tribute to the Beloved NCIS Star Following His Passing

As NCIS fans come to terms with the heartbreaking loss of David McCallum, who portrayed the cherished Donald “Ducky” Mallard, tributes and remembrances from colleagues and friends are pouring in. McCallum passed away on September 25 at the age of 90 due to natural causes, leaving a profound impact on both his co-stars and the audience.

Shortly after the news broke, many of McCallum’s fellow cast members took to social media to honor his legacy. Wilmer Valderrama was among those who shared their memories and respect for the talented actor. Mark Harmon, best known for his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, also offered a personal tribute. In a heartfelt statement to TVLine, Harmon expressed, “David lived a great, full, long life. I was in awe when I first met him, and all of us on the show were honored to share the screen with him. My condolences go out to Katherine and his family.”

Both Harmon and McCallum were part of the original cast of NCIS, having debuted in the pilot episode that aired in September 2003. While Harmon left the show after four episodes in Season 19, McCallum continued to bring Ducky to life, making his final appearance in a remote capacity during the show’s monumental Season 20 finale. This made him the last remaining original cast member, symbolizing the end of an era for the series and its dedicated fanbase.

The NCIS official social media accounts also shared a heartfelt tribute to McCallum, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of David McCallum and privileged that CBS was his home for so many years.” The post, which featured a photo of the Emmy Award nominee, continued, “David was a gifted actor and author, beloved by many around the world. He led an incredible life, and his legacy will forever live on through his family and the countless hours of film and television he contributed.”

In their tribute, the NCIS team expressed how much they would miss McCallum’s warmth and sense of humor, which lit up every room and soundstage he graced. “We will miss his warmth and endearing sense of humor that lit up any room or soundstage he stepped onto, as well as the brilliant stories he often shared from a life well-lived,” the post concluded. “Our hearts go out to his wife Katherine and his entire family, and all those who knew and loved David.”

As fans and colleagues reflect on David McCallum’s remarkable career and the impact he had on their lives, it is clear that his legacy will continue to resonate. His contributions to NCIS and his memorable performances will be cherished for years to come. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those who loved him during this difficult time.
