Ncis To Resume Filming Amid La Wildfires – With One Condition

As filming resumes, production crews have to follow strict rules, including working on closed soundstages while closely monitoring the studio’s security, health and safety teams
NCIS is one of the TV shows resuming filming this week after facing disruption due to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires – but production teams will have to stick to one condition.

Among the series going back to work are CBS’ NCIS, NCIS: Origins, The Neighborhood and Poppa’s House, as well as ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and some shows from NBCUniversal such as Max’s Hacks. NBC’s Happy Place and and Suits LA are also resuming production, while other shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and After Midnight are still on hold.

But as wildfires are continuing to burn in LA, there are strict rules production teams will have to follow. The four CBS series resuming production, which are all produced by CBS Studios, will have to remain indoors while filming.

This includes working on closed soundstages while closely monitoring the studio’s security, health and safety teams. And any cast or crew members who can’t reach work safely, or who have been impacted by the fires, have been encouraged not to go to work as they will still receive their regular pay.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, catering teams from some of CBS Studios Los Angeles productions have been making boxed meals for first responders during the fires while also donating clothing from the shows. Jimmy Kimmel Live! is also setting up a donation center behind the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, as confirmed in an Instagram post saying: “If you’re looking for a way to help those affected by the fires, we have a donation center in our backlot in Hollywood.

“We will quickly distribute essential items to those who need them.” Accepted items include bottled water and Gatorade, baby food, pet food, non-perishable food items, as well as toiletries, new socks, underwear, diapers, and baby wipes.

As production of NCIS resumed, fans shared their excitement on social media, with one person writing on X: “YES THAT’S RIGHT!!! The NCIS Verse is officially back in production starting today!!! #NCIS #NCISOrigins.”

Another fan posted on Reddit: “Hate to say this (i’m not bootlicking, so stay far back folks) But for those involved in these productions, gives them some normalcy back into their life. Better then sitting in a motel room dwelling or at a friends/families place. Some of their routine can pick up again pre fire.”

A third person added: “I’m glad some folks are getting back, we need to get back to work. I’m sorry for all those that can’t, of course, but we need a path forward.”

However, not everyone was celebrating the return as many pointed out the fires are still ongoing. “After? Aren’t they still going? And aren’t they expecting high winds to come back soon?” one person questioned. Another fumed: “The city is literally still burning.”
