Now,\u00a0Oded Fehr\u00a0is recurring on\u00a0Star Trek:\u00a0<\/em>Starfleet Academy<\/i>\u00a0as Admiral Vance, a character he originated on\u00a0Star Trek: Discovery<\/em>. Vance is a good guy. But Fehr has also played the exact opposite type of character in the past, including on\u00a0NCIS<\/em>, in four episodes in Season 10 as Ilan Bodnar.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love being the bad guy. I love being the bad guy. It\u2019s really a lot of fun because you\u2019re really a good guy. Bad guys don\u2019t see themselves as bad guys,\u201d Fehr explains to TV Insider. \u201cThey see themselves as good guys, just misunderstood. So it\u2019s really a lot of fun. You get to do a lot, much bigger kind of emotional scope.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bodnar was the one responsible for the murders of both Ziva\u2019s (Cote de Pablo) father, Eli David (Michael Nouri), and Vance\u2019s (Rocky Carroll) wife, Jackie (Paula Newsome). He died after facing off with Ziva.<\/p>\n

Fehr came in during Season 10, and he remembers how impressed he\u2019d been by the show being on air that long and also doing 22 episodes a year. \u201cThey were very lovely,\u201d he shares. \u201cYou could feel the cog wheels working. The machine just keeps moving. It made me really feel like, \u2018Wow.\u2019 It used to be the actor\u2019s dream.\u00a0They don\u2019t do 22 episodes anymore as they used to. \u2018Oh my God, I could work the entire year. I don\u2019t have to worry about working again and all the rest of it.\u2019 But it is hard. And I remember thinking to myself, \u2018Wow, these guys have done this for 10 years. That\u2019s incredible.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

As for reprising his role on\u00a0Starfleet Academy<\/em>, Fehr feels honored that they brought him on.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a long time coming. I actually did reach out when I first heard about it and went, \u2018Look, this happens, I\u2019m sure Admiral Vance wouldn\u2019t mind being involved,\u2019\u201d he admits. \u201cBut yeah, I feel very honored and blessed. It means something when a character you\u2019ve portrayed is brought back to another show. It\u2019s a wonderful compliment.\u201d<\/p>\n
