Uh-oh \u2014 might Parker\u2019s (Gary Cole) attempt to get revenge for his long-time nemesis, mob boss Carla (Rebecca De Mornay), killing his father lead to his own death in\u00a0NCIS<\/em> Season 23?! TV Insider can exclusively reveal the trailer and key art for the new episodes, and the lead agent is in some serious trouble.<\/p>\n

What better way to celebrate NCIS Day \u2014 the series launched on September 23, 2003 \u2014 than with this new look at what\u2019s coming up on the CBS drama? There do appear to be glimpses at some of the regular cases-of-the-week \u2014 the show\u2019s \u201cbread and butter,\u201d which will never go away, executive producer\u00a0Steven D. Binder\u00a0told us as part of our\u00a0Fall Preview\u00a0\u2014 but the focus is on Parker after his father\u2019s murder when the series returns on Tuesday, October 14.<\/p>\n

We relive Parker finding his father dead and realizing who was responsible in flashbacks as, in the present Vance (Rocky Carroll) visits him \u2014 in a jail cell! \u201cYou\u2019re not angry at me. I gave you space, gave you time,\u201d the director says. \u201cI gave you cover.\u201d Parker insists, \u201cI\u2019m trying to make things right.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Parker goes rogue to find Carla, \u201cwe\u2019re going to see him revert to the Parker that we alluded to in his teen years,\u201d Binder told us. \u201cWe will see him as a teen in flashbacks. He was a rough kid \u2014 in juvie homes, in trouble, arrested all the time, breaking the rules, not caring about who was between him when he wanted to go from A to B \u2014 and he\u2019s going to revert back to that because he is pissed.\u201d<\/p>\n

He and Vance will be in direct conflict, and while in the past, the director has helped out the team in situations like this, that won\u2019t be the case here. \u201cWe\u2019ve often played where it\u2019s Director Vance telling his team they need to get back in the box and sit down and then he goes, wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Then he leaves the file on his desk while he leaves the office so they can look through something they need to look through,\u201d previewed the EP. \u201cThat\u2019s not the case this time. There will be some serious conflict between these two that will live beyond these episodes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trailer, which you can watch above, also offers a look at the team working the crime scene of his father\u2019s murder and ends on an ominous note: One of the team is in a room full of explosives! Watch it to see who it is.<\/p>\n

The theme of the season is \u201cNCIS on fire,\u201d Binder said, with each character getting an arc that falls in line with that. \u201cAt various points throughout the season, they\u2019re all going to have their explosive moments.\u201d<\/p>\n
