But the cancellation news is still fresh, and nothing has been ruled out.<\/p>\n<p>In their joint statement, Weatherly and de Pablo called the spinoff the \u201cnext chapter\u201d of Tony and Ziva\u2019s story \u2013 not necessarily the final one. Yet they also thanked fans for finally getting to see the couple\u2019s \u201chappily ever after,\u201d leaving the door both open and gently closed.<\/p>\n<p>History suggests hope remains. Weatherly returned to\u00a0<em>NCIS<\/em>\u00a0in Season 21 for a tribute to Ducky, and de Pablo previously came back for major arcs in Seasons 16 and 17. If any former characters can walk back through the NCIS doors, it\u2019s Tony and Ziva.<\/p>\n<p>Weatherly has even hinted at what their future could look like \u2013 from marriage to raising Tali as a teenager \u2013 teasing that just when things feel stable, life always finds a way to shake things up.<\/p>\n<p>For now, fans can only wait.
