When Cote de Pablo left as Ziva David in season 11, the show struggled to fill the gap she left behind. Before Ellie Bishop officially joined the team, Maffia\u2019s character temporarily stepped in as Ziva\u2019s original replacement.<\/p>\n<p>Twelve years after her first appearance, Vera resurfaced in NCIS season 23 during the crossover with\u00a0<em>NCIS: Origins<\/em>. Her current future, however, remains uncertain. Most importantly, Vera could act as a bridge between the flagship series and\u00a0<em>NCIS: Origins<\/em>.
