As fall approaches,\u00a0NCIS<\/em> fans are counting down the days until season 23 \u2013 and the show\u2019s cast is ready to dive back into action.<\/p>\n

The season 22 finale left viewers reeling with two big cliffhangers: who k1lled Alden Parker\u2019s (Gary Cole) father, Roman (Francis X. McCarthy), and which members of the NCIS team would return to help solve the mystery?<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t just another murd3red victim that this team runs across. This is one of our own,\u201d Cole told\u00a0Us Weekly<\/em> in May, adding that Parker\u2019s story will take a much darker turn. After Roman\u2019s body was discovered inside Parker\u2019s home \u2013 with two wine glasses hinting at a mysterious guest \u2013 Parker will wrestle with both grief and rage. \u201cThe way the last moment was written was that [Parker] goes from this shock and grief to immediately vengeful,\u201d Cole explained.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a look at who\u2019s officially on board for season 23:<\/p>\n

Sean Murray<\/h3>\n

One of the few remaining original cast members, Murray will return as Special Agent Timothy McGee. He confirmed his comeback in July with a teaser on Instagram, posting a photo of McGee\u2019s computer screen that read: \u201cNCIS SEASON 23 10\/14.\u201d The post also doubled as the announcement of the season premiere date.<\/p>\n

Wilmer Valderrama<\/h3>\n

Valderrama, who has played Special Agent Nick Torres since 2016, teased that season 23 will show a more intense side of his character. \u201cYou\u2019re going to see a team that\u2019s going to be willing to go rogue,\u201d he said at CBS Fest in May. \u201cWhen someone hurts, Torres hurts. And Torres is a little more unhinged than most.\u201d In July, he posted a behind-the-scenes video from set, giving fans a look at his monogrammed chair, his on-set routine, and the inside of the bullpen.<\/p>\n

Katrina Law<\/h3>\n

Law, who joined the cast as Special Agent Jessica Knight in season 18, is also back. She teased that the upcoming season will show the NCIS team uniting in a way audiences haven\u2019t seen before. \u201cI\u2019m really interested to see what we are willing to do for one of our own and how far we\u2019re willing to go for the love of one of our own,\u201d she shared in May. In July, she confirmed her return with a cheerful group selfie captioned, \u201cNCIS SEASON 23!!!!! Let\u2019s gooooooooo!!!! \ud83e\ude77.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gary Cole<\/h3>\n

Cole\u2019s Alden Parker remains front and center this season as he seeks answers \u2013 and revenge \u2013 for his father\u2019s murd3r. Since taking over as team leader in 2021 following Mark Harmon\u2019s exit, Cole has steadily become the anchor of the show. This season, fans will get a more personal look at Parker\u2019s past as he confronts both loss and buried family dynamics.<\/p>\n

Brian Dietzen<\/h3>\n

Dietzen, who started on the series as Ducky Mallard\u2019s assistant and is now Chief Medical Examiner Jimmy Palmer, also confirmed his return. In July, he teased fans with an Instagram post of his character\u2019s glasses, writing: \u201cHello Jimmy Palmer. Hello NCIS. Hello season 23.\u201d Viewers are also eager to see whether Palmer\u2019s will-they-won\u2019t-they relationship with Jessica Knight gets more attention this season.<\/p>\n

Diona Reasonover<\/h3>\n

Reasonover, who plays forensic scientist Kasie Hines, hasn\u2019t shared any updates from set, but she is expected back to provide her lab expertise and quirky humor.<\/p>\n

Rocky Carroll<\/h3>\n

Carroll returns once again as NCIS Director Leon Vance. While Vance doesn\u2019t always appear in every episode, he confirmed his participation this season through a promotional video released on the show\u2019s official Instagram.<\/p>\n

Who Might Not Return<\/h3>\n

Mark Harmon\u2019s Leroy Jethro Gibbs has remained absent since season 19, though fans continue to hold out hope for at least a flashback or cameo. As of now, CBS has not revealed any plans for Harmon\u2019s return.<\/p>\n

A New Face<\/h3>\n

Nancy Travis is joining the cast as Parker\u2019s sister, Navy Vice Admiral Harriet Parker. According to showrunner Steven D. Binder, Harriet\u2019s arrival will shed new light on Parker\u2019s troubled childhood and the complicated relationship between the siblings. \u201cShe\u2019s this super squared-away Navy admiral, and then you\u2019ve got Alden Parker, who\u2019s got this \u2018bad kid\u2019 seed,\u201d Binder explained. The sibling tension is expected to bring both drama and humor \u2013 especially as the two clash during a high-stakes global crisis.<\/p>\n
