Pam Dawber surprised fans by appearing as investigative journalist Marcie Warren in the April 6 episode of\u00a0NCIS<\/em>. As the real-life wife of series star Mark Harmon, CBS had tried several times over the years to get her on board. Still, she had one non-negotiable term before she agreed to join. \u201cI told the producers right away-if this is a romantic interest, I\u2019m not interested.\u201d Fortunately, they assured her the character was strictly professional.<\/p>\n Dawber\u2019s Character Is a Journalist-Not a Love Interest<\/strong><\/p>\n In her\u00a0NCIS<\/em>\u00a0arc, Dawber plays Marcie Warren, an investigative journalist determined to uncover the truth behind Gibbs\u2019 indefinite suspension. She isn\u2019t interested in romance-only facts.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s digging into a major case that Gibbs is tied up in. She\u2019s trying to figure out what really happened, but no one wants to talk,\u201d Dawber explained. \u201cShe manages to track Gibbs down and hopes he\u2019ll give her something to work with.\u201d<\/p>\n Returning to TV Made Her Nervous<\/strong><\/p>\n Even with her experience, Dawber admitted she was nervous about stepping back in front of the camera after so long. \u201cI had these anxiety bubbles-what if I can\u2019t remember my lines? What if I suck?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n She also confessed to feeling self-conscious about modern HD screens. \u201cEveryone has huge TVs now,\u201d she laughed. \u201cYou can see every pore and wrinkle. I don\u2019t even want to watch myself on DVD-I\u2019ll just criticize my hair and how old I look.\u201d<\/p>\n Still, Dawber successfully filmed four episodes and was proud of the work.
