Veteran actor Harris Yulin, known for his powerful performances in\u00a0Scarface<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Ghostbusters II<\/em>, has died at age 87. His family and manager, Sue Leibman, confirmed he passed away from cardiac arrest Tuesday in New York City.<\/p>\n

\u201cYulin was part of the vanguard of a generation who cared passionately about the craft of acting,\u201d a statement read, honoring his lifelong dedication to the art.<\/p>\n

Born November 5, 1937, in Los Angeles, Yulin began his stage career in 1963 with\u00a0Next Time I\u2019ll Sing to You<\/em>, and made his Broadway debut in\u00a0Watch on the Rhine<\/em>\u00a0(1980). His Broadway credits included\u00a0The Price<\/em>,\u00a0The Visit<\/em>,\u00a0The Diary of Anne Frank<\/em>, and\u00a0Hedda Gabler<\/em>. He also directed numerous plays, including\u00a0The Glass Menagerie<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0The Trip to Bountiful<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Yulin\u2019s film debut came in 1970\u2019s\u00a0End of the Road<\/em>. He went on to appear in dozens of films, including\u00a0Clear and Present Danger<\/em>\u00a0(1994),\u00a0Bean<\/em>\u00a0(1997),\u00a0Training Day<\/em>\u00a0(2001), and\u00a0The Place Beyond the Pines<\/em> (2012).<\/p>\n

On television, he earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for his 1996 guest role on\u00a0Frasier<\/em>. His TV work included roles in\u00a0Ozark<\/em>,\u00a0Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em>,\u00a024<\/em>,\u00a0Veep<\/em>,\u00a0Billions<\/em>, and\u00a0Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Though never seeking stardom, Yulin embraced each role as it came. \u201cI just do the next thing that comes along,\u201d he told the\u00a0Irish Times<\/em>\u00a0in 2010.<\/p>\n

At the time of his passing, he was filming the MGM+ series\u00a0American Classic<\/em>, directed by Michael Hoffman, who praised Yulin as \u201cone of the greatest artists I have ever encountered.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yulin was previously in a relationship with actress Faye Dunaway and was married to actress Gwen Welles until her death in 1993. He is survived by his wife Kristen Lowman, son-in-law Ted Mineo, nephew Martin Crane, and godchildren Marco and Lara Greenberg.
