NCIS: The True Reason Sasha Alexander Left the Show

Sasha Alexander, one of the original members of the NCIS ensemble, shocked fans when she decided to leave the show after just two seasons and 49 episodes. Her departure from the role of Special Agent Caitlin ‘Kate’ Todd left many wondering why she would choose to walk away.

Sasha Alexander left NCIS because of the demanding filming schedule that came with shooting 24 episodes a year. In a 2012 interview with TV Guide, she opened up about the long hours and minimal breaks that eventually took a toll on her. The unexpected death of her character in the season two finale left her feeling like she had been shot in the head.

Despite any sadness over leaving, Sasha is content with her decision as it has allowed her to focus on her personal life, including her marriage and two children, as well as pursue new creative projects. Her sentiments mirror those of her co-star Mark Harmon, who also struggled with the show’s rigorous production demands. Both actors have since moved on to new endeavors, but their dedication to NCIS will always be remembered.
