Head of CBS Entertainment hints at positive news for NCIS: Sydney season 2 renewal. The season 1 finale sets up multiple storylines for potential continuation. The spinoff promises an exciting follow-up to the cliffhanger ending. The head of CBS Entertainment gives a positive update on NCIS: Sydney season 2. Debuting on CBS in November 2023 with showrunner Morgan O’Neill, NCIS: Sydney focuses on rising international tensions in the Indo-Pacific, shedding light on the team of U.S. NCIS Agents and the Australian Federal Police. It tracks how they’ve ended up as part of a multi-national task force to keep naval crimes in check in the most contested patch of ocean on the planet. In an interview with Deadline about the network’s slate of programming, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach was asked about NCIS: Sydney season 2. Although the executive does not break any news, her optimistic response seems to indicate that the latest NCIS spinoff is a likely candidate for renewal. Read Reisenbach’s response below: In the finale of NCIS: Sydney season 1, the mysterious “Ana Niemus” (Georgina Haig) began the episode in custody. But those fortunes were swiftly changed when the son of JD (Todd Lasance), the nine-year-old Jack, was kidnapped by a creepy clown. JD agrees to swap the wanted criminal, Ana, in exchange for the safe return of his son. Ana kills the kidnapper, turning the gun on JD long enough to escape. But on the bright side, JD is safely reunited with his son. Before she escapes, however, Ana gives JD a phone. He calls the lone number on it, only for the audience to discover that the number belongs to a supposed ally and the Department of Defense’s Rankin (Lewis Fitz-Gerald). JD is in the dark, but Rankin realizes that he might be exposed as being in contact with the kidnapper. More serialized than the main NCIS, the Sydney-set spinoff will have a few key threads to pick up if it’s renewed. Along with Lasance, NCIS: Sydney features an ensemble main cast that also includes Sean Sagar as NCIS Special Agent DeShawn Jackson, Olivia Swann as NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey, Tuuli Narkle as AFP Liaison Officer Constable Evie Cooper, Mavournee Hazel as AFP Forensic Scientist Bluebird ‘Blue’ Gleeson, and William McInnes as AFP Forensic Pathologist Dr. Roy Penrose. They are implicated in the cliffhanger in different ways, with Mackey considering pulling a gun on Rankin. Thankfully, with an update from a top CBS executive, that shocking ending seems like it will have a follow-up. rewrite
